Paradox Mobile — Frequently Asked Questions

What is Paradox Mobile?

Paradox Mobile is a line of hand-built, data protection phones based on individually purchased Google Pixel hardware, hardened with GrapheneOS, and configured with Paradox defaults. Each device is customized, tested, and sold AS IS.

Why the name “Paradox”?

The same device that connects you can also control you. We flip that paradox, connection without default monitoring.

How are the phones built?

We hand-build, customize, and test every unit. Not mass production.

Why Pixel 7a as the base?

Security model, long-term updates, and GrapheneOS compatibility with solid price-to-performance. Base model subject to change.

What makes Paradox different?

No Google services by default, minimized background data, curated privacy tools, GrapheneOS hardening, and optional hardware changes (select models). See Terms for disclaimers.

Can apps still track me?

Only if you allow it. We ship with strict defaults and without Google Play Services. You control permissions and installs.

Can I use WhatsApp/Instagram/Facebook?

Yes, typically via hardened browsers or alternative clients. Features may be limited. We don’t preinstall them.

What about cameras and microphones?

Sentinel: fully functional. Phantom: hardware on/off switches. Monolith: removed at the hardware level. Manufacturer warranty void due to modifications (see Terms §3).

Is GPS disabled?

Sentinel & Phantom: GPS available; you control permissions. Monolith: GPS hardware removed.

Do phones receive updates?

Yes- GrapheneOS patches + Paradox hardening when available. Cadence not guaranteed; devices are sold AS IS.

What apps come preinstalled?

Privacy-centric essentials (encrypted messenger, private browser, VPN, offline maps, secure storage). No Google Play and no bloat.

Can I install my own apps?

Yes- via F-Droid, Aurora Store (no Google account), or sideloading. You’re responsible for what you install.

Are banking apps supported?

Some require Google Play Services and may not work or may be limited. We provide guidance, but compatibility isn’t guaranteed.

Maps & navigation?

Offline maps (e.g., Organic Maps) are included to avoid Google dependency.

Email?

Yes, via privacy-focused clients like Proton Mail or K-9 Mail.

Carrier compatibility?

Sentinel & Phantom: GSM SIMs. Monolith: Wi‑Fi only. Band/eSIM/VoLTE/VoWiFi/regional support varies- verify with your carrier. No service guarantees.

International use?

Sentinel & Phantom generally work with international GSM carriers (varies). Monolith works anywhere with Wi‑Fi.

Tethering / hotspot?

Yes, subject to carrier and local rules. Or use a separate Wi‑Fi router.

Calls & texts?

Sentinel & Phantom via carrier SIM (where supported). Monolith via internet services (VoIP, Signal, Matrix). Functionality varies.

Models & unit counts?

Sentinel: 100–200 units. Phantom: second run. Monolith: ≈30–50 units. Counts may change.

When do sales start?

Target: end of November 2025 (dates may change).

Pricing?

Reflects hand-built customization. Final pricing announced closer to launch.

Why gemstones?

They replace sealed camera/mic apertures on certain models—functional and symbolic (space reclaimed for privacy).

Why not DIY GrapheneOS?

You can. Paradox adds hardware-level changes (select models), curated defaults, and ongoing software support. See Terms for scope.

Philosophy?

Own your phone. Own your life. Technology should serve people—not corporations.

Warranty?

Manufacturer warranty is void due to modifications. Paradox provides no warranty (express or implied). Devices are sold AS IS after in-house testing. See Terms §3.

Lost phone?

No default cloud tie-in. We provide backup guidance, but you are responsible for your data and recovery practices.

Returns?

No. All sales are final—no returns, exchanges, or refunds under any circumstances. See Terms §2.

Repairs & support?

Best-effort software support/updates and repair options when possible (customer pays). Repairs aren’t guaranteed and may be refused if the device was altered/damaged. See Terms §4.

Shipping & delivery?

Signature required. After carrier marks “delivered” with signature, liability transfers to you. We aren’t responsible for theft, loss, or damage after delivery. International buyers cover duties/taxes/fees. Delays not compensated. See Terms §11.

Acceptable use?

We don’t encourage or condone unlawful activity. You are solely responsible for how you use the device. See Terms §§5–6 & 8.

This FAQ summarizes key points. The Terms & Conditions govern in case of any conflict.
